As per new FINTRAC regulations pertaining to record keeping, OLG must perform reasonable measures to obtain the additional information in the event that there is a reportable transaction(s) conducted by the Player. The optional collection of these fields improves our compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing act and associated regulations.
OLG must comply with regulatory requirements of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and the guidelines published by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) under the definition of Casino.
What needs to be collected?
OLG requires you to provide information regarding your position and the nature of your type of business.
The information needs to be descriptive and must accurately reflect what you do. For example: if you are a manager, the occupation recorded should reflect the area of management, such as “hotel manager” or “warehouse manager.”
The same is true when recording the nature of the business you are in. For example, in the case of a business in the field of sales, you would include the type of sales, such as “pharmaceutical sales”.
Here are a few other common scenarios to consider:
“Business Owner Other Businesses not listed” can be supplemented with further information in the Type of Business field. For example "Digital Media Company".
Entries of “Retired”, “Student”, “Unemployed”, “Homemaker” will be options and the Type of Business should provide further clarity.
Begin typing your job title in the field provided. Choose from 1,000 options that best match your job title.
The Type of Business is free-form and can include a better description of the service or products related to your place of work. You can also add the name of the business if that is easier.
At any time, you can update your information within your profile otherwise, as a casino player, you will be prompted to enter this information prior to depositing funds, playing casino games or requesting a withdrawal.
If your information is not adequate, we will delete the information and require you enter new information. You may receive an email advising of this. Depending on the circumstance, we may suspend access to your account until you can provide us with acceptable information.
If you change occupations, you can simply edit your Profile settings and update your occupation and industry information.
Select your most relevant occupation and industry.
Effective January 2022, FINTRAC regulations require that all Players attest that the information provided at the time of Registration is correct and up-to-date.
In order to meet this new regulation, a player must acknowledge and confirm that the following “mandatory” fields are up-to-date;
- First Name,
- Preferred Name,
- Last Name,
- Phone Number,
- Address,
- Occupation & Industry
- PEP/HIO attestation & disclosure
- Office/Position
- Name of organization
- Source of wealth
- Source of funds
