HOW OLG SUPPORTS ONTARIO ATHLETES
Since 2006, OLG and the Ontario Government have worked together to support high-performance amateur athletes through the Quest for Gold program. From equipment to education to training and living expenses, the Ontario Government helps Ontario athletes compete at the highest national and international levels through the Quest for Gold program.
Quest for Gold program has invested more than $151 million in Ontario athletes and has played a pivotal role in supporting thousands of them to compete – and win – on the world stage.

QUEST FOR GOLD ATHLETES
Support from Quest for Gold has helped local high-performance amateur athletes, including Team Canada Olympic athletes Andre De Grasse, Penny Oleksiak, Maggie Mac Neil and Jillian Weir.
ANDRE DE GRASSE
Sprinter Andre De Grasse has won six Olympic medals in his first two Olympic Games, making him Canada’s most decorated male summer Olympic medallist. He was raised in Markham, Ontario and began running competitively in high school.
Penny Oleksiak
Swimmer Penny Oleksiak is Canada’s all-time most decorated Olympian, with seven medals under her belt. Growing up in Toronto, she discovered her passion for swimming in a neighbor’s pool as a kid.
Maggie Mac Neil
Three-time Olympic medallist Maggie Mac Neil is one of Canada's most accomplished swimmers. From London, Ontario, she started competing at age eight for the London Aquatic Club.
Jillian Weir
Jillian Weir made her Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020 where she accomplished the second-best finish ever by a Canadian woman in the hammer throw. Jillian started competing in track and field in grade six.
