A winning set of numbers for a LOTTO 6/49 draw entitles a winner to a prize in only one of the above prize categories.

(2) If there is no winning selection in any one or more of the 6/6, 5/6+, 5/6 or 4/6 categories of a Classic Draw, the amount of the Prize or the Pool, as applicable, for each of those said categories for which there is no winning selection for that draw will be allocated to the funding of prizes for subsequent Classic Draws and/or Gold Ball Jackpot Draws, at ILC’s discretion.
(3) “Share of $5,000,000” means an amount calculated by dividing $5,000,000 by the number of winning selections in the 6/6 category.
(4) “Share of Pool” means, with reference to each category of winning selections in the 5/6+, 5/6 and 4/6 categories, an amount calculated by dividing the dollar amount of the Pool, for that category, by the number of winning selections in that category.

For example, if there are 30 prize balls available for the draw, the odds of winning the Gold Ball Jackpot are 1 in 30. The prize pool for LOTTO 6/49 is based on a parimutuel share. A parimutuel share is a calculation where the total monies allocated to a prize category are divided by the total number of winners in that category. Sometimes, customers select certain number combinations more often than other number combinations, and this may result in a greater number of winning tickets and a lower prize share. Some of the more popular combinations are based on sequence of numbers, vertical, horizontal or diagonal lines on selection slips, multiples of numbers, variations of historic dates or birth dates, etc. These combinations vary from DRAW to DRAW and change depending on customer play patterns.
